This ‘Complete Physical Education Activities Program’ is a unique 4 book series designed for Kindergarten to Grade 9 generalist teachers, P.E. specialists, teachers in training, and related recreational sports and movement based programs. The HPE Resource Series is based on best practices in teaching, Laban’s principles of movement, and ‘hands-on’ practical learning experiences.
The primary objectives of the RTU Series is to foster in children a love of physical activity and play; to develop and improve health-related fitness; to develop competence in motor skills, coordination, grace and control; to develop healthy self-concepts and confidence, social interaction, cooperation and sportsmanship.
The RTU PE Activities Series (K-9) provides a plethora of fun-packed, quality physical activity education lessons, sequential and progressively developed, co-educational and inclusive. Each learning experience becomes a shared enterprise between the teacher and students involved.
Each Resource in the RTU (K-9) Series is comprised of the following 8 sections:
- Introductory Activities
- Fitness Activities
- Movement Awareness
- Rhythms and Dance
- Play Gymnastics
- Special Games
- Closing Activities
Each activity in the RTU Series (K-9) is accompanied with Joanne’s cartoon-like, stick figures and diagrams to compliment the easy to read and understand descriptions.
Most of the activities can be taught using standard and traditional PE equipment. However, included are enrichment and extension activities that require special equipment such as juggling scarves, balance feathers, and scooters.
