Joanne M. Landy
Joanne Landy earned a B.Ed. degree, graduation with Great Distinction from the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1974. She also completed a post-graduate international P.E. Diploma through Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, and a Personal Trainer Certification through Renouf Fitness Academy in Perth.
Joanne’s professional background includes 10 years of Secondary Teaching in Physical Education, Health and Mathematics and 10 years as a Primary PE Specialist. During these years she also provided ‘best practices’ demonstration teaching in PE Methodology and Pedagogy for University Teachers in Training, coordinated by Professor Max Landy, through the University of Regina, in Saskatchewan. In 1988 Joanne and Max were selected as part of a 12-member leadership team for the National Youth Foundation Fitness Camp in Los Angeles.
The ‘Ready-To-Use Series’ (K-9) was initially developed by Joanne Landy and her late Australian husband, Professor Max Landy. After Max’s unexpected death, Joanne further developed the 4 book RTU Series to production stage and the Series was published in 1993-94 by Prentice Hall USA. The RTU Series became a successful international seller, used by PE Teachers in the field, Physical Activity and Sport instructors and coaches, and Teachers in training. Through her Lifestyle Education Consulting business she has provided in-depth HPE Workshops and PD In-servicing sessions in Physical Education for teachers throughout the Australian Education system, including University HPE Programs. In conjunction with Melbourne based Sportime® Australia, (the biggest Physical Education and Sports equipment company in Australia), Joanne has provided many PE Workshops and PD HPE In-service Sessions at National and State ACHPER Conferences, featuring Sportime® innovative and manipulative physical education equipment.

Joanne and Keith Burridge were part of the HPE workshop facilitation team for the W.A. Department of Education’s ‘Physical Steps’ initiative. Together Joanne and Keith co-authored the 3 book ‘Motor Skills’ Series (K-6) and an early childhood education resource ‘Kids with Zip’. They provide over 50 years of expertise in creating practical ‘hands-on’ resources in Physical Education. Joanne also authored, solely, a HPE resource entitled ‘P.E. Teacher’s Pre-Sport Skill Lessons, Activities and Games’ (Grade 4-6).

Joanne has also been proactive in youth Recreational programs including: the creation and coordination of a Basketball Skills Development Program (ages 6-12), a ‘Tune-Up Kids’<sup>TM</sup> Program (ages 5-12) focusing on fundamental movement skills, a ‘Tune-Up Volleyball’ Program, and contributed to a personal development program for teenage girls (ages 13-18) called ‘On the Move’. In addition she was involved in movement -based safe fun sessions for the Golden Seniors Program. She also provided ‘Tune-Up’ team-building and motivational movement-based sessions for whole school staffs, corporate business groups and other community groups.
From 1993, Joanne has presented at major HPERD (Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) international conferences in Canada (CAHPERD), United States AAHPERD), Australia (ACPHER) and New Zealand. She has facilitated a plethora of HPE Workshops/PD Days for teachers in early childhood education, primary, secondary and tertiary levels. For a 10-year period Joanne was an HPE sessional lecturer at Murdoch University and Edith Cowan University. She was also an invited HPE Workshop presenter at the University of Western Australia, Notre Dame College of Education in Western Australia; Western Washington University, Washington State; University of Regina, Saskatchewan, and major University centers throughout New Zealand. She maintains an active lifestyle and is involved in many sports on a regular basis.
Currently, Joanne has joined with Linley Campbell and Carmel Hoad (retired Edith Cowan HPE University lecturers) to produce a series of online HPE Resources for teachers in the field, practicing teachers, and recreational and community physical activity instructors: Being Physically Active Series and the Innovating Physical Activity Series. Keith R. Burridge
Keith Burridge earned a Dip.Ed at Nedlands Secondary Teachers College, followed by a B.P.E. degree (1978) and M.Ed. from the University of Western Australia, Perth. Keith’s professional background includes 15 years as a secondary Physical Education and Science teacher, 5 years a primary Physical Education Specialist, and 4 years of special education working with children with movement difficulties. From 1995-97 Keith was employed by the Department of Education of Western Australia (Perth) as a school Development Officer in Physical Education and was responsible for the professional development in PE for over 80 schools.
Keith was one of the key writers for the Western Australia Department of Education’s 1998 Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) package and has presented FMS best practices HPE Workshops throughout Western Australia. He has lectured at Notre Dame College of Education and Murdoch University, and facilitated many program for early childhood education. Keith and Joanne were part of the HPE workshop facilitation team for the W.A. Department of Education’s ‘Physical Steps’ initiative.
Together Keith and Joanne co-authored the 3 book ‘Motor Skills’ Series (K-6) and an early childhood education resource ‘Kids with Zip’. As a Fundamental Movement Skills specialist, Keith has contributed in the writing of a resource called ‘Why Bright Children Fail’ (Hammond, 1996). He also designed a K-3 computer assessment package for identifying children at an early age who have coordination problem. This program is in operation in over 400 schools in Western Australia. Keith, now at Willeton Senior High School in Perth, W.A. went on to develop and pilot a special program to work with children at educational risk.
